Mr. Mayle
was born in 1952, and is a
native of Southern California.
He is a second-generation
locomotive engineer and has been
working on the BNSF Railroad
(formerly Santa Fe) for the past
35-1/2 years. He originally
hired out in 1970 as a
locomotive fireman and was
promoted to locomotive engineer
in 1973.
Following in his late father's
footsteps, Ken joined the
Brotherhood's Relief and
Compensation Fund in 1970,
becoming a second-generation
member, obtainer and terminal
president. Ken is also a
longstanding active member of
the Brotherhood of Locomotive
Engineers and Trainmen union.
He was appointed to the BR&CF
Board of Directors in April
1996, was elected to a five-year
term in 1997, reelected for
another 5 year term in 2002. He
also serves on the Board of
Directors for the North American
Railway Foundation.
Ken had the privilege and
opportunity to learn to operate
the rebuilt Santa Fe steam
locomotive 3751 in the
mid-1990s. One of the highlights
of his career was taking the
locomotive on an excursion.
Ken enjoys photography, golf,
hiking, playing the stock
market, computers and spending
time with his grown children,
Ryan, Michelle and Timothy. Ken
and his lovely wife, Sherry,
work and live in Southern
California. They enjoy traveling
and going on cruises.
He looks forward to serving his
term on the BR&CF Board of
Directors and continuing to
serve the BR&CF's members by
helping maintain the Fund as the
Number 1 job income protection
organization in North America.
The BR&CF continues to be your best value!
